Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a unique opportunity for your body and all its tissues to receive significantly more oxygen than is achievable by regular breathing. This is accomplished by relaxing inside an FDA-approved chamber, which is pressurized above normal atmospheric pressure with oxygen delivered for you to breathe through a lightweight mask. Click here to find out how it works.

HBOT sessions are by appointment only. If you would like to try HBOT, please complete a Health History Form here

Benefits of HBOT

Benefits of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric oxygen increases the effectiveness of other therapies, both internal and external. Top athletes use hyperbaric oxygen to improve peak performance and reduce recovery time. The brain, which uses 30% of the body's oxygen, similarly benefits from increased oxygen levels. There are also implications for anti-aging.

In the past and currently, hyperbaric usage has focused on treating difficult medical cases. Our goal is to use hyperbaric oxygen to feel great, get healthy and stay healthy. Wellness has many components but oxygen is the critical key element. Visit us to see how you can make HBOT a part of your wellness program.

How HBOT Works

How Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Works

Oxygen delivered in this pressurized environment dissolves oxygen into the blood and body tissues to a much higher level than can be obtained under normal conditions. Hyperbaric oxygen increases the oxygen available to all of your healthy tissues including your skin, brain and liver as well as any other damaged, inflamed, swollen and painful tissues, regardless of the type of tissue, its location, and the cause or duration of the injury.

Feel Difference

Feeling the Difference

Air contains only 21% oxygen. When you breathe air, oxygen intake is limited to your red blood cells transported through your vascular system. Our Oxygen Bar offers enriched air delivered through an oxygen canulla. However, oxygen intake is still limited to your red blood cells transported through your vascular system. During Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, you breathe 92% concentrated oxygen through an oxygen mask while relaxing inside a pressurized chamber. Oxygen not only reaches your blood cells and vascular system but also your plasma, joints, spinal cord and brain cells.

What to Expect

What to Expect during HBOT

When you arrive
We recommend that you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by one of our Hyperbaric Oxygen Technicians who will direct your session and answer any questions you may have during your treatment session.

What should I wear?
100% cotton scrubs will be provided for your comfort. You may use one of our private dressing rooms to change clothes. To ensure the comfort of everyone, please refrain from using perfumes or fragrances before your session.

For your security, the dressing room will remain locked during your treatment session. We also provide a locked safe for storing personal items such as keys, jewelry, cell phones, glasses, purses or pocketbooks and money. However, Pro Oxygen is not responsible for your use of the lockbox, nor for lost or stolen items. We therefore recommend that you leave your valuables at home.

How long does a session typically last?
Hyperbaric oxygen treatment sessions generally last 90 minutes, with 60 minutes spent at optimal pressure. Once a chamber session is in progress, the chamber will not be opened except for emergency egress. We therefore recommend that you do not eat or drink at least 1 hour prior to your session to avoid the need to go to the bathroom during your session.

Do I need to bring any special equipment?
Your HBOT session will take place in a chamber certified for use as a pressure vessel for human occupancy up to 3 ATA as authorized by the United States Food and Drug Administration. Oxygen in the chamber will be supplied by masks provided by Pro Oxygen. There is no need to bring supplemental equipment. If you would like to watch a film during your session, you may bring a DVD of your choice to watch while in our hard-shell Sechrist chamber.

Prohibited Items
For your own personal safety and the safety of others, certain materials, including electronic devices, magazines or books, and metallic or flammable materials, are not allowed in the chamber or other areas where oxygen is in use.

Smoking
Smoking is not compatible with the use of Hyperbaric Oxygen. If smoking takes place either before or after HBOT, there may be a marked decrease in any potential benefit HBOT may provide. If you have recently smoked, we recommend that you DO NOT participate in Hyperbaric Oxygen sessions at this time. A special chamber-cleaning fee will be charged in the event that you fail to disclose such information to your Hyperbaric Oxygen Technician.
