Reducing the Damaging Effects of CO with HBOT

The Dog Head Wildfire in New Mexico and its associated health effects, including carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning, reminds us of this article in the Neurological Review written by our chief Medical Officer, Dr. Kenneth Stoller.

Carbon monoxide is an odorless and colorless gas that mixes with air and can be found wherever organic material is burned in incomplete combustion, including concentrations of 30% in automobile exhaust gas. CO is the most common cause of poisoning in the US, resulting in 800 deaths per year, and it appears to be the leading cause of deadly poisoning worldwide.

Trials confirm that hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is an effective therapy for carbon monoxide poisoning and for minimizing resulting neurological damage. At Pro Oxygen we offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy for carbon monoxide poisoning and many other respiratory diseases, including asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
